The Position:

The Director of Operations will report to the President. They will be customer-focused, drive continuous improvement, provide dynamic leadership for a growing team, and have the ability to engender positive workplace culture that merges traditional values with advanced technologies.

Job Type: Permanent. Full-time. In-person.

Pay: $120,000.00-$160,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Business hours, Monday to Friday

  • Due to the leadership nature of this role, some overtime may be required.

 

Start Date: Immediate.

 

Work Location:  LaFlesche Headquarters, 1 Rock Rd. West, Kahnawake. 

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Oversee Plant Operations including managing day-to-day operations to ensure efficient production processes and implementation/enforcement of operational policies and procedures to optimize productivity and quality.

  • Manage Production Planning including the development of production schedules, ensuring on-time delivery and coordination with production teams to meet production targets and quality standards.

  • Supervise Inventory and Purchasing by managing inventory levels to meet production needs while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs and overseeing purchasing activities including vendor selection, negotiations, and procurement of materials and supplies.

  • Ensure Safety and Compliance through implementation and enforcement of safety protocols and regulatory compliance measures and conducting regular safety audits and inspections to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Optimize Logistics and Transportation by coordinating transportation and logistics activities to ensure timely deliveries and through evaluation and optimization of transportation routes and methods to minimize costs and improve efficiency.

  • Lead Continuous Improvement by fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation among operations staff and pursuing initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Manage and Develop the Operations Team through recruiting, training, and developing the operations staff to build a skilled and motivated workforce and by providing leadership and guidance to supervisors and managers.

  • Develop and Manage the Operations Budget to ensure financial targets are met and monitor expenses and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.

 

Experience/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering preferred, or equivelant work experience.

  • 5 years or more in Industrial Management

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and Manufacturing Systems Integration Software (MYSIS) or similar platforms

  • Knowledge of ISO/AS certifications and processes

  • Experience in managing financial operations/managing expenses

  • Strong ability in applying LEAN/Continuous Improvement concepts

  • Excellent computer skills (especially Excel analysis and Microsoft 365)
